Gary Andrews

Thanks for stopping by. By day I work across various aspects of communications. I'm currently Social Media Editor for Direct Line Group. This is a space where I jot down thoughts on everything from industry musings through to sport.

Any thoughts and opinions published online, anywhere, are my own, and do not reflect those of my employer(s) and/or clients past, present or future.

Delve through the archives and you'll probably notice several references to past work. I originally trained as a broadcast journalist (including a stint as a local radio newsreader), but have slowly moved into the content and social area over the years, as well as touching on PR and marketing. I've worked for the BBC and ITV, produced podcasts and videos for actors (among other things) at casting directory Spotlight, and worked on a groundbreaking digital campaign for the pharmaceutical industry at PR agency Ruder Finn. It's been varied, challenging, different and fun. And a world away from where I envisioned when I was reporting on a dispute over a mobile sausage cart all those years ago (yes, that's a true story).

Across this site, you'll find plenty of references to three of my main passions in life: football (and sport in general), film and food. All three are my way of unwinding and chances are if I'm not in work I'm at a game, in the cinema, or in the kitchen. For several years I co-hosted the twofootedtackle podcast with Chris Nee and can be found at various publications, including When Saturday Comes and The Two Unfortunates.
